Work it Out

Work outs can be tough to fit into busy schedules. But I try my best–so here is a log of the fun little things I do in the gym and at home!

Week of Jan. 23, 2012

  • Jan. 23: Elliptical 30 minutes
  • Jan. 24: Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home ( 1 hour video – 5 miles)
  • Jan. 25: Treadmill 30 minutes (jog 2 minutes, walk 1 minute)
  • Jan. 26: Elliptical 20 minutes, stretching and light weights at home
  • Jan. 27: Elliptical 30 minutes, stair master 20 minutes, arm and leg machines for 15 minutes
  • Jan. 28: 3 mile power-walk around Lake Johnson with Kyle
  • Jan. 29: Short walk around Pullen Park
  • Next week’s goal: Incorporate more yoga and/or workout classes into the routine. I can only read so many People magazines on the elliptical–let’s mix it up!

Week of Jan. 30, 2012

  • Jan. 30: 30 minutes with Leslie in the morning & an 1.5 hour cardio funk/ab-solution class at the gym
  • Jan. 31: 45 minutes of Brazilian Booty Lift
  • Feb. 1: 30 minute cycle & 1 hour power yoga class
  • Feb. 2: 30 minutes of Leslie in the morning before my interview :)
  • Feb. 3: 30 minutes on the elliptical, 15 min. stairmaster and 15 minutes arm/leg weights
  • Feb. 4: walked to the gym with Kyle :) then did 30 minutes on the elliptical
  • Feb. 5: Rest Day!
  • Next week’s goal: I really loved the Cardio Funk and Power Yoga classes I went to this week–I want to continue to attend them at the gym. I also was to get into the habit of doing some strength-building and toning exercises in the morning before heading to class.

Week of Feb. 6, 2012

  • Feb. 6: Leslie 30 minutes
  • Feb. 7: 1 hour Zumba class & weights (arm circuit) at home
  • Feb. 8: 1 hour yoga class—I think yoga is my new obsession!
  • Feb. 9: nada. Drove home to Charlotte!
  • Feb. 10: 3 mile run/walk
  • Feb. 11: I considered my day filled with mall-walking exercise enough :)
  • Feb. 12: Rest. Drove back to Chapel Thrill!
  • Next Week’s goals: I really want to make sure I get my weights in after workouts. And I want to begin the 100 Push Up Challenge!

Week of Feb. 13, 2012

  • Feb. 13: Elliptical 45 minutes/arm weights at the gym / push-up, sit-up and squat test for the 100 push up, 200 sit-up and 200 squat challenges!
  • Feb. 14: 1 hour Zumba class
  • Feb. 15: Yoga class and day 1 of each of the challenges: 25 push ups, 120 sit ups, 108 squats
  • Feb. 16: 45 minutes on the elliptical
  • Feb. 17: 15 min. treadmill/30 min. elliptical/ 3o min. arc trainer/ 32 push ups, 152 sit ups, 137 squats
  • Feb. 18: 3 mile run/walk with Ky
  • Feb. 19: Rest
  • Next Week’s goals: Run 1-1.5 miles without stopping :)

Week of Feb. 20, 2012

  • Feb. 20: Elliptical 30 min./Treadmill 30 minutes (jogging 2 min, walking 30 sec.)/ Challenges
  • Feb. 21: Elliptical 40 min./ Challenges
  • Feb. 22: Yoga class / Treadmill 30 min. / Challenges
  • Feb. 23: Power Yoga class
  • Feb. 24: 30 min. elliptical / a one-mile run (non-stop! What a milestone :) Goal for the week…check!) / Challenges
  • Feb. 25: 2 hours of rock climbing :)
  • Feb. 26: Rest my achy muscles! (my forearms are KILLING me!)
  • Next Week’s goals: Complete my 7-day slim down and run 1.5 miles without stopping.

Week of Feb. 27, 2012

  • Feb. 27: Treadmill 15 min./ elliptical 30 min. / challenges
  • Feb. 28: Yoga class
  • Feb. 29: 30 min. elliptical/yoga class/challenges
  • Mar. 1: Rest
  • Mar. 2: 20 min yoga podcast/challenges
  • Mar. 3: Ab and arm circuit
  • Mar. 4: Rest–finally getting rid of that cold!
  • Next Week’s goal: be active and have fun in the Bahamas :)

Week of Mar. 5, 2012

  • Bahama Mama status: walked around a big cruise ship and an island, and swam in the ocean for some fun, tourist-y exercise

Week of Mar. 12, 2012

  • Mar. 12: Treadmill 15 min. / elliptical 30 min. / walk with Erin
  • Mar. 13: yoga class
  • Mar. 14: Treadmill 15 min. / elliptical 30 min.
  • Mar. 15: 3 mile walk
  • Mar. 16: Treadmill 15 min. / elliptical
  • Mar. 17: The hike ;) aka rest day
  • Mar. 18: Rest day
  • Next week’s goals: Get back on focus–begin my 5k program! And mix it up a little more. Get in one more workout class and weights during the week.

Week of Mar. 19, 2012

  • Mar. 19: Light jog outside (15 min) and Elliptical 30 min.
  • Mar. 20: Run/walk 30 min.
  • Mar. 21: Yoga class/Commit 5K practice
  • Mar. 22: 2.5 mile run/walk
  • Mar. 23: Elliptical and run
  • Mar. 24: Hill jog
  • Mar. 25: Party hardy ;)

Week of Mar. 26, 2012

  • Mar. 26: Elliptical 30 min.
  • Mar. 27: Rest
  • Mar. 28: 1.5 mile run with Commit 5K!

  • Mar. 30: Run 1.5 miles, bike 30 min., Arm, ab and leg circuits

  • Next week’s goal: Continue jogging and work up to running 1.75-2 miles. Woop woop! :)

  • April 6: Mall walking with my mama :)–is there any better way to exercise?!?!

  • April 9: 17 minute jog on treadmill/arm circuit
  • April 10: Does walking up and down the library stairs count?! ;)
  • April 11: Commit 5k 15 min. warm up and jog (about 1 mile or so)
  • April 12: Quick jog around campus in between class
  • April 13: 35 min walk/jog around my neighborhood
  • April 14: 35 min walk/jog around my neighborhood

  • June 4: Cycle class (1 hr)–lots of miles here, but I was not able to calculate distance so this won’t go towards the 100 mile challenge!

Week of June 11, 2012….VEGAS WEEK :)

This week’s workouts came in the form of how much I worked at the convention. I had intended to jog in the mornings before we worked the InfoComm convention, but I was too exhausted from setting up our booth and running around reporting all day! I may not have hit the gym, but there was definitely some cardio involved :)

  • June 11: Setting up our booth at the InfoComm convention = a little heavy lifting
  • June 12: More setting up!
  • June 13: Walked/ran around/scrambled to report on all the new products in the AV convention = 3 miles walked (someone wore a pedometer so we could keep track!)
  • June 14: more reporting = 3 miles
  • June 15: Tore down the booth
  • June 16: Rest…flew back to NC!
  • June 17: 3 mile jog

38 miles down, 62 to go!

Week of June 18, 2012

  • June 18: 3 mile jog/walk
  • June 19: 3 mile jog/walk
  • June 20: Pilates and 2 mile job/walk

Whoops! Between moving to Raleigh and beginning my first job, I’ve gotten a little slack here…but let’s get back to it! It’s been two months, I have lost 20 lbs., I completed my 100 mile challenge and I am toying around with the idea of participating in a mud run. Better get to movin’!

Week of August 20th, 2012

  • Aug 20: 3 mile jog/walk
  • Aug 21: 3.25 mile jog/walk
  • Aug 22: 3.25 mile jog/walk
  • Aug 23: Swim 20 minutes
  • Aug 24: Rest
