Drinkin’ Dandelion

Hi friends! How’s your Tuesday treating you?!
I’m so excited that next week is my family’s awesome annual family beach trip. But that also means this week is my 5-day slim down!
I’m loosely following the Tone it Up 7-day-Slimdown. I’m eating lots of veggies and trying to stay away from snacking on too many carbs…holy moly is that tough to do when all I want to eat are handfuls of chocolate chips. So to get myself motivated and as a little reward for losing my first 20lbs, I bought myself a new Nike running tank and some Under Armour running shorts. The cute shorts were on sale–yay for bargain goodies!
I know they don’t really coordinate, but boy are they comfy! The brighter the workout clothes, the better
This weekend my mom found this interesting pin on Pinterest and we decided to give it a whirl. It’s a Jillian Michaels’s (you know Jillian, she’s that crazy female trainer on Biggest Loser!) recipe for a Dandelion tea drink that helps get rid of extra bloat/water weight if you want to trim down for a special event. In my case, that event is being in a bikini for the next 7 days.
Dandelion tea is known for its ability to flush the body of toxins and aid in fluid balance. It has even been known to help with acne and gout! You can read more here.
Jillian Michaels’s recipe calls for one dandelion tea bag to be steeped in 60oz of water. We let the bag sit in our water overnight. Then add 2 Tbsp of lemon juice and 1 Tbsp of sugar free cranberry juice. The concoction is pretty tasty, although I was skeptical at first. I don’t mind losing excess water weight, but I don’t want to dehydrate myself. However, I’ve been drinking the tea for two days, I’m not dehydrated and I am tinkling like crazy…although I have been drinking normal water, too. I’ll let you know how it works
What do you do to prep for your beach trips or special occasions? Ever tried something like this?
xoxox,
Kath
